Student Ministry
Sunday Night Dinner
Our Sunday Night Dinners will resume on August 26. Join us for 6:00
evening service in the chapel and then stroll into the common hall to enjoy a
home-cooked meal prepared and served by our parishioners.
Growing in Grace
A group for LSU undergraduate students
will begin the evening of August 29. This weekly gathering is organized
and led by our four student interns with Fr. Drew attending as well. This
weekly small group includes worship, Bible study, discussion, and
prayer. The group is intended for those who wish to dive a bit deeper
into their relationship with Jesus Christ, and to find support in their
lives as Christians on a college campus. We will meet in the Common
Hall.
Lunch with C.S. Lewis
Beginning August 29, St. Alban's Chapel will offer a free lunch for
undergraduate and graduate students every Wednesday (11:30 - 12:20). Following
a fantastic catered lunch served by members of the St. Alban's congregation, Fr.
Drew Rollins (Chaplain) or Dr. Edward Song (a member of the LSU faculty in the
Philosophy & Religion Department) present a short teaching on 'mere
Christianity', a term coined by C.S. Lewis to describe those beliefs which
Christians through the ages have held in common. Students always participate in
a lively back and forth with Fr. Drew and Dr. Song.
Mission Trip
Each semester, our ministry interns plan a Mission Trip for our students.
In the past they have spent time restoring homes damaged during Hurricane
Katrina.
Spring Testing
Every spring, St. Alban's Chapel and the LSU Chaplain's Association sponsor a
jambalaya lunch for incoming freshmen and their families. Our staff and
Ministry Interns serve drinks at this event. This year was our biggest yet,
serving over 2,000 people.
Spring Retreat
During the spring semester, our students, along with Fr. Drew attend an
overnight retreat at the Solomon Episcopal Conference Center in Robert, LA.
